'Samba de Gafieira' is a Brazilian partner dance born in the early 20th century in Rio de Janeiro.
It is influenced by various dance styles, from African to European, and danced to the sound of samba rhythms, samba rock, 'chorinho', Bossa Nova and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira).
Thanks to its beauty and elegance, as well as leg extensions, it is often compared to the well-known Argentinian tango.
Classes take place every second week in the city centre of Brussels. One week there is a class for beginners and the next there is a class for the intermediate level.
Beginners 19:30 - 20:30, starting on September 21st
Intermediate 19:30 - 20:30, starting on September 28th
Ocasionally workshops are organised and special guest teachers are invited.
Hello. My name is Ismael.
I am the teacher and local events coordinator :-)
Practice sessions usually take place after each class, with a couple of exceptions.
There are also other opportunities to improve your dancing skills, in Brussels and beyond.
